ويتمتع البرنامج الجديد بمجموعة من الخصائص الجديدة، بما في ذلك إدخال بعض التغييرات الرئيسية في عناصر المكتبة (Library) وأداة التطوير(Develop). كما تمت إضافة أداوت مفيدة للمصورين والمتمثلة في أداوت (Hue) و (Saturation) وكذلك أداة (Luminance) وهي أداوت خاصة بعمليات التعديل والتحرير في الصور بشكل أمثل. كما أن خاصيتي (Clone) و (Healing) تساعدان في إنجاز عمليات تحرير سليمة ومتقنة عند إزالة أثار أتربة العدسة من صورة واحدة أو أكثر من صورة. ويعتمد البرنامج الجديد على تقنية (Adobe Camera Raw) ويدعم نحو 150 تنسيق أصلي من تنسيقات الصور. وهو ما يعني أن المصورين المحترفين يمكنهم استعمال البرنامج مع أحدث الكاميرات الرقمية مثل (Nikon D40) و(D80) وكذلك (Pentax K10D). ويمكن تحويل الملفات المستوردة إلى نسق (DNG) وهي عبارة عن محاولة عالمية من الشركات الكبرى في مجال التصوير التقني لإرساء قواعد تنسيق عالمي موحد يمكنه حل مشاكل التشغيل والحفظ. ويمكن حجز نسخة من البرنامج مقدما وذلك في الولايات المتحدة وكندا فقط عبر متجر أدوبي ([عزيزي الزائر يتوجب عليك التسجيل للمشاهدة الرابطللتسجيل اضغط هنا]). وبالنسبة للمتطلبات الضرورية لتشغيل برنامج (Photoshop Lightroom) فهي إما نظام تشغيل ماك (OSX 10.4.3) ومعالج (PowerPC G4) ذو سرعة 1 جيجاهرتز، أو نظام تشغيل (Windows XP SP2) ومعالج انتل (Pentium 4) وبالنسبة للذاكرة الوصول العشوائي فيجب أن تكون 278 ميجابايت والشاشة يجب أن تصل درجة وضوحها إلى (1024 x 768). وسنلاحظ أنه تطبيق عالمي مزدوج حيث يمكنه العمل مع أنظمة ماك التي تعتمد على تقنية انتل أو تلك التي تعتمد على تقنية (PowerPC) كل هذا فقط على شهاب سوفت للبرامج .
